One year after falling out of the top spot, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is again the No. 1 hospital in the U.S. For pediatric diabetes and endocrinology, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The publication released its Best Children's Hospitals ranking for 2024-2025 on Oct. 8. U.S. News & World Report ranked pediatric hospitals across 11 specialties with the goal of assisting parents, caregivers and physicians to find the best possible care for children, according to a press release.
U.S. News & World Report named Children's Hospital of Philadelphia as the top hospital in the U.S. For pediatric endocrinology and diabetes."When confronted with the daunting task of selecting a hospital for their child's specialized medical needs, parents and caregivers can use U.S. News' evaluation of pediatric hospital performance as a valuable resource," Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News & World Report, said in a press release. The top five U.S. Hospitals for pediatric diabetes and endocrinology are:
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia regains its place in the No. 1 spot after being ranked third in 2023-2024. The institution was ranked as the top pediatric diabetes and endocrinology hospital in 2022-2023.
Cincinnati Children's and Boston Children's Hospital each slid down the rankings one and two spots, respectively, after tying for the top spot in 2023-2024. Texas Children's Hospital fell two spots after ranking second last year. Children's Hospital Colorado fell from fourth in 2023-2024 to fifth in 2024-2025.
This year's ranking was compiled by U.S. News & World Report and research and consulting firm RTI International by analyzing data from 108 children's hospitals and survey information from thousands of pediatric specialists. According to a press release, "Best Hospital" designations are given to institutions that "excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, compliance with established best practices, and level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care."

UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals Rank Among Nation's Best In 2023-24

Photo by Maurice RamirezUCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals have been recognized among the nation's best pediatric medical centers in all 10 specialties assessed in U.S. News & World Report's Best Children's Hospitals 2023-24, reflecting the exceptional quality of care the hospitals provide.
Together, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals in Oakland and San Francisco ranked ninth nationwide in newborn specialty care (neonatology) and placed among the top 20 children's hospitals nationwide in seven pediatric specialties, including cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, kidney care (nephrology), neonatology, neurology and neurosurgery, and pulmonology and lung surgery. The hospitals also were recognized nationally in cardiology and heart surgery, orthopedics, and urology.
They were the best children's hospitals in Northern California in three pediatric specialty areas: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, and gastroenterology and GI surgery. Together, the hospitals tied for the best in Northern California, and also tied for the No. 3 children's hospitals in the entire Pacific Region, which includes Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington.

The annual U.S. News rankings serve as a guide to hospitals nationwide that excel in treating children with the most challenging diagnoses. This is the eighth year in which the two UCSF Benioff hospitals have ranked together among the best children's hospitals in all 10 areas. This year, their combined rankings rose in the six specialty areas of pediatric cancer, cardiology, diabetes/endocrinology, gastroenterology/GI surgery, neurology/neurosurgery and pulmonology/lung surgery.
"We're pleased to see the steady rise in our rankings across so many specialty areas as we continue to expand our pediatric health network in Northern California," said Matthew Cook, president of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals. "This reflects hard work by thousands of physicians, nurses, staff and trainees, who bring their best to our hospitals and clinics every day on behalf of the patients and families we serve."
The 2023-24 results represent the 17th year of pediatric rankings. The methodology reflects clinical outcomes such as patient survival, infection rates and complications; the level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care, including staffing, special services and technology; delivery of health care, including programs to prevent infection and promote adherence to best practices; and expert opinion from surveys of 6,331 pediatric specialists.
Of the 119 children's hospitals reviewed this year, 88 hospitals were ranked among the top 50 in at least one specialty. Each facility was either a freestanding children's hospital or an autonomous, multidisciplinary pediatric department within a major medical center.
The complete list of children's hospital rankings is available online and will be published in the Best Hospitals print guide in September. U.S. News & World Report will publish its adult hospital rankings on August 1, 2023.

Boston Children's Hospital and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center both moved up to the top spot on the pediatric diabetes and endocrinology list after being ranked second and third, respectively, in 2022-2023. Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the top-ranking hospital for pediatric diabetes and endocrinology in 2022-2023, fell to third in this year's rankings.

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center was ranked No. 1 in the U.S. News & World Report 2023-2024 Best Children's Hospital Honor Roll for the first time in its history. Boston Children's Hospital was ranked No. 2, followed by Texas Children's Hospital at No. 3, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia at No. 4 and Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., at No. 5.
