KANE COUNTY, IL — If you live in Kane County, the health department and Kane County Animal Control want to help ensure your children, dogs and cats are up to date with their vaccinations, and are hosting two upcoming vaccination clinics. Get your child vaccinated before they head back to school during the Kane County Health Department's free vaccination clinic Friday, Aug. 2, at Hosanna! Lutheran Church, 36W925 Red Gate Road in Saint Charles. The clinic will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. during the School Supply Give Away event, according to the health department.
While no appointment is necessary to get your children vaccinated at the upcoming free clinic, the health department also said the vaccinations aren't for adults. The health department added that funding for the immunizations comes from a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

In addition, Kane County Animal Control (KCAC) will host an additional low-cost dog and cat rabies vaccination clinic Saturday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the KCAC facility, 4060 Keslinger Road in Geneva. According to the health department, KCAC will offer one-year rabies vaccines only, and requires all Kane County residents to purchase a registration tag at the time the vaccine is administered.

According to the health department, KCAC doesn't require owners to have an appointment to take part in the clinic or future ones, and said all owners must verify their animal has not bitten anyone in the past 10 days at the time of the clinic.
KCAC said your pet must:
- Either be on a leash or in a carrier while at the clinic
- Be handled on the leash or in a carrier by an adult, 18 years or older.
- If your pet requires a muzzle, it is the owner's responsibility to provide it and to fit it on the pet prior to arriving at the clinic.
Costs during clinic:
- $20 for both rabies vaccine and registration/tag for neutered or spayed cats and dogs.
- $35 for both rabies vaccine and registration/tag for non-neutered or non-spayed cats and dogs.
- $10 vaccine for seniors; registration/tag is free.
- $15 for micro chipping. According to KCAC, micro chipping your pet is one way to bring your pet home if they should ever get lost, as most police departments and vet clinics can scan a pet with a chip scanner. KCAC added that all an owner needs to do is keep the chip company updated with any changes in information.
All forms of payment will be accepted. If paying by credit or debit cards, there is a 2.45 percent additional fee added to the total, KCAC said, according to the health department.
Other low-cost rabies vaccine and registration clinics will be offered:
- Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
