Since March 26, authorities at the Slovenia points of entry will no longer permit entry for those who present Rapid Antigen (RAT) tests as proof that they are not infected with COVID-19.
The decision has been taken by the Slovenian government, which adopted the amendments of the Ordinance setting out the requirements of entry into the Republic of Slovenia in its bid to contain and control the COVID-19 infectious disease on March 25.
"As of March 26 2021, a negative RAT test is no longer listed among the general exceptions for entry into Slovenia. Entry into Slovenia is now possible only with a negative PCR test; the same applies to the lifting of quarantine," the Slovenian Ministry of Interior notes in a press release announcing the changes.
Last week, on March 20, the same Ministry had decided that students under the age of 13 who need to cross Slovenia's border daily in order to study in this country do not need to present a negative result of the Coronavirus test upon their arrival.
Currently, Slovenia applies entry restrictions for arrivals from countries on the red list, which is a list of countries in the European Union and Schengen Area with the highest infection rates.
All arrivals from countries in the red list are obliged to self-isolate for a period of ten days or present a negative PCR test taken within the last 48 hours before arrival to Slovenia.
Those who can prove that they have been infected with COVID-19 within the last six months, and have recovered from it, are also exempt from the requirement of quarantine. Vaccinated persons who can prove that at least seven days have passed since they took the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine or at least 14 days since they took the second dose of the Moderna vaccine or a minimum of 21 days since the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
